Culturally Responsive Care for LGBTQIA+ Communities: A BIPOC-Centered Approach

Date: November 18, 2026
Time: 5:30 PM–7:30 PM
Duration: 2 Hours

Culturally responsive care requires more than affirming sexual orientation and gender identity. Effective clinicians must also understand how race, culture, family, spirituality, community, and experiences of oppression shape the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals. For many LGBTQIA+ people of color, these intersecting identities influence help-seeking, resilience, relationships, mental health, and experiences within healthcare and behavioral health systems.

This interactive workshop explores culturally responsive approaches to working with LGBTQIA+ clients through a BIPOC-centered lens. Participants will examine intersectionality, minority stress, cultural humility, and the ways cultural and community contexts influence mental health and well-being.

Assessing Trauma with Confidence: A Skills-Based, Culturally Responsive Approach

Date: October 28, 2026
Time: 5:30 PM–7:30 PM
Duration: 2 Hours

Effective trauma assessment requires more than determining whether a client has experienced a traumatic event. Clinicians must also understand how trauma symptoms may present differently across individuals and communities and how culture, race, identity, family, spirituality, community, and systemic experiences can influence both the experience and expression of trauma.

This interactive, skills-based workshop is designed to strengthen clinicians’ confidence in recognizing and assessing trauma while maintaining a culturally responsive approach. Participants will examine common trauma responses, explore how trauma may appear in clinical settings, and consider factors that can complicate assessment, including overlapping symptoms, cultural differences in the expression of distress, and clients’ varying understandings of their own experiences.

Working with Older Adults

Date: December 9, 2026
Time: 5:30 PM - 8:50 PM ET
Duration: 3 Hours

Location: In-Person

Supporting the health and well-being of older adults requires attention to the whole person. Effective clinicians must understand how mental health, physical health, spirituality, relationships, environment, and sense of meaning and purpose interact throughout the aging process. Older adults also bring diverse cultural identities, life histories, strengths, traditions, and experiences that influence how they understand aging, health, illness, help-seeking, independence, family, and well-being.

This interactive workshop explores culturally responsive, holistic approaches to mental health and well-being among older adults using a Mind–Body–Spirit–Relationships–Environment–Purpose framework. This framework encourages clinicians to consider the interconnected dimensions of an older adult's life rather than approaching mental health concerns in isolation. Participants will examine how these dimensions interact to influence optimal functioning, resilience, adaptation, and quality of life in later adulthood.
